Actress Kallina Liang Tapped for Chun-Li Role in Street Fighter Adaptation

Actress Kallina Liang, known for her roles in films like “How to Hack an Exam” and “Presence,” has reportedly been cast as Chun-Li in the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular fighting game franchise, Street Fighter. This casting information is currently unofficial and awaiting formal confirmation.

The new Street Fighter film project was first announced in 2023, with production being handled by Legendary Pictures in collaboration with Capcom. Official details regarding the full cast and the film`s plot remain undisclosed. While initially slated for a spring 2026 release, the premiere date has since been moved to an unspecified later time.

The film`s production has seen changes behind the scenes. Originally, directing duties were assigned to brothers Michael and Danny Philippou, known for their work on the horror hit “Talk to Me.” However, in June 2024, they exited the project due to scheduling conflicts, prioritizing their work on another film, “Bring Her Back,” with A24. In February 2025, Kitao Sakurai, recognized for directing episodes of “Twisted Metal” and “The Eric Andre Show,” took over as the director.
