Former professional Counter-Strike player and PGL Major Kraków 2017 champion, Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev, has spoken about embracing his new role as a coach. He shared his perspective in a comment provided to Cybersport.ru during the BetBoom LanDaLan #2 event, which he attended with his newly formed team, Novaq.
Q: Could you tell us about your experience in the new coaching role? How long did you plan this transition, and what are your future ambitions?
A: I had been planning the creation of the organization and my move into a coaching position for roughly four months. I explored numerous possibilities and considered what approach would be most beneficial for me… I did feel apprehensive about coaching because I lacked prior experience, but I had a clear vision of how a coach should conduct themselves to achieve success and support the team effectively. Overall, I am still very much in a learning phase, constantly observing and developing. I am definitely a newcomer in this coaching world.
Q: That`s true for this specific role, but as a player, you`ve navigated many challenges, and I believe your extensive experience will significantly benefit the `young blood`, so to speak.
A: Yes, that thought also crossed my mind – that I possess a substantial amount of experience, and I wouldn`t want that experience to simply dissipate, you know, just be lost. I wanted to impart it, to help others gain a deeper understanding, and to some extent, mentor players who are, essentially, building upon the foundation I helped create.
AdreN announced the formation of his esports organization and team, Novaq, in February 2024. Alongside this announcement, he confirmed he would be taking on the coaching role for the squad. At the BetBoom LanDaLan #2 event, held from May 5 to 8 in Moscow, Novaq placed 5th-6th, being eliminated following the group stage.
