Actress Ana de Armas, known for her roles in hit movies like Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049, recently shared her personal list of favorite feature films. She revealed her top movie picks in a video posted on the Letterboxd YouTube channel.
Acknowledging that choosing just four is “too little” and difficult, de Armas ultimately selected a diverse list of cinematic works:
Her first choice is Quentin Tarantino`s critically acclaimed classic, Pulp Fiction. De Armas praised it as a “beautiful classic,” stating that “everything is just perfect” in the film, from the plot to the acting.
Next on her list is The Birdcage. She expressed her strong affection for this film, mentioning she “can rewatch this film again and again.” She highlighted the “amazing” actors, humor, and the “heart” of the movie as key reasons for her love.
Her third favorite is The Deer Hunter. De Armas described her deep love for this film, specifically pointing out a scene as “one of the best party scenes” she has ever seen. She also noted it as another example of outstanding acting performances.
Finally, she expressed a broader love for all films directed by Hayao Miyazaki, singling out Princess Mononoke. She shared a memorable experience of watching Princess Mononoke on a big screen in Madrid for the first time, admitting the film was so moving that she “just cried from beginning to end.” She called it “amazing, beautiful cinema.”
In related news, Ana de Armas is set to star in the upcoming John Wick universe spin-off film, Ballerina, which is scheduled to premiere on June 6th. She plays Eve Macarro, nicknamed Kikimora, a young woman raised within a Russian Roma criminal organization. The plot follows her path of revenge against her family`s killers, having been trained in traditions similar to those of John Wick himself.
