Professional Dota 2 player Artur `Arteezy` Babaev recently shared his perspective on the current state of the carry role in patch 7.39b. During a personal stream, he voiced his strong opinions, even changing his in-game nickname to `dogshit patch not playingg carry` to emphasize his point.
I`m not playing carry. If I have the option to pick any role other than carry, I`m going to do it. This feels like the worst patch for carries in my life. You just don`t influence the game at all, you don`t decide if the team wins or loses. Yeah, you`ll contribute if you win your lane, but overall the outcome of the game is decided without carry participation right now. I`m saying `right now` specifically — not `yesterday,` not `last patch`.
Patch 7.39b was deployed on the night of May 30th. The update brought several map location adjustments, nerfs to various neutral items, and hero rebalances, including a buff for Anti-Mage and a nerf for Omniknight.
