During the PGL Wallachia 4 tournament, Aurora Gaming`s Dota 2 player Gleb “kiyotaka” Zyryanov was briefly reported missing from the team hotel. The situation, initially causing significant concern, turned out to be the result of a simple mix-up by the hotel staff, compounded by the player`s deep sleep.
The details of the incident were later shared by Aurora`s coach in a team vlog:
Kiyotaka tried to avoid coming to Romania, but we insisted, put him on the plane, and brought him here. Upon arriving at the hotel, Gleb vanished. We couldn`t find him anywhere. At first, we suspected Lukashi was playing pranks, but it was actually a hotel error. They assigned Gleb a room, but their system listed him in a different one. He fell asleep in the incorrect room, while our manager Michael went to wake him in the room listed in the system. Michael knocked, but got no answer. He returned with security to open the room, only to find neither Gleb nor his belongings inside. This caused a major commotion: police, local security services, the whole city buzzing, even the mayor`s office running around like crazy, dealing with paperwork and so on. Well, slowly, after about three hours of all this panic, Gleb finally responded. He crawled out like a lazy kitten, yawned. True story.
Fortunately, the situation was resolved without harm, though it understandably caused considerable stress for the entire team. The player was perfectly safe, having simply been asleep in the room mistakenly assigned to him, completely unaware of the extensive search underway.
