The iconic “Back to the Future” film franchise will not be expanded with new installments. This was confirmed by trilogy co-writer Bob Gale during a recent appearance at Universal Fan Fest Nights.
I don`t know why they keep asking about this. Does anyone really think that if they repeat this enough times, we`ll give in and make a sequel?
In every interview, they ask me: `Bob, when are you making *Back to the Future 4*?` Never. `A prequel?` Never. `A spinoff?` Never. The trilogy is fine as it is. It`s not perfect. But, as Robert Zemeckis used to say: `It`s perfect enough.`
“Back to the Future” first premiered in 1985 and has since become a beloved classic, receiving high praise from audiences (for example, scoring 8.5/10 on IMDb). Director Robert Zemeckis has also previously indicated that Universal Pictures often approaches him about creating a continuation. However, like Gale, Zemeckis sees no compelling reason for a fourth film or a remake of the original. Instead, Zemeckis has expressed openness to a potential film adaptation of the successful “Back to the Future” Broadway musical.
