Andrey `Bestoloch` Ionov, a PUBG player for BetBoom Team, has shared his perspective on the current state of the game. The esports athlete pointed out that PUBG consistently receives updates and various in-game events.
In a recent interview, Bestoloch addressed the recurring question of whether PUBG is declining. He mentioned that the perception of PUBG`s decline has been around for five years, but in reality, the game is thriving with ongoing updates and events. He noted that while developers are still profiting from the game, their support for esports tournaments has decreased.
When asked about the potential reasons for this shift, Bestoloch admitted he wasn`t sure. He illustrated his point by comparing the PUBG Global Invitational.S 2021, which had a prize pool of $7 million, to the current World Championship with a significantly smaller prize pool of $1.5-2 million. He also brought up the Riyadh Masters event, which now offers a larger prize pool than the PUBG Global tournaments.
Previously, BetBoom Team participated in the PUBG EMEA Championship: 2025 Spring, where they secured second place, finishing behind Geekay Esports.
