For the majority of users, the overheating trouble occurs specifically when navigating the main menu or viewing the in-game map. An initial theory speculated that the developers might have overlooked adding a frame rate limiter to these specific interface sections. However, a number of users have also reported experiencing overheating even during active gameplay. The issue seems to affect both the standard PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro models equally. Complaints have been ongoing for several days, and recent game updates have unfortunately not yet resolved the problem.
Death Stranding 2 was released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 26 for all players, with owners of the Deluxe Edition gaining access a few days prior. The sequel has been met with widespread critical acclaim, holding an impressive score of 90 out of 100 on Metacritic based on over one hundred reviews at the time of this writing.
