Danil “Dendi” Ishutin, a renowned esports player in Dota 2, has shared his thoughts on what he would change in the game if he had the power to alter any aspect. He pinpointed three crucial areas for improvement: game balance, marketing strategies to attract new players, and a professional league system.
In a recent interview, Dendi was asked about his vision for Dota 2 and what he would change with complete freedom. He responded:
“Honestly, I`m not sure if it`s truly possible to bring Dota 2 back to its previous peak popularity. However, there are definitely a few things I would adjust.”
When pressed to name his top three priorities, Dendi elaborated:
“Firstly, I would dedicate significant effort to re-balancing the game. There was a time when Dota 2 was slower-paced, and the comeback mechanics weren`t as impactful. This allowed for individual skill to truly shine and carry games. Investing time in improving your skills felt rewarding and enjoyable.”
“Currently, the situation is different. Even with near-perfect play, external factors can lead to losses, which can be demotivating for players.”
“Secondly, if resources were available, I would launch an aggressive marketing campaign and develop a comprehensive system for onboarding new players, making it easier for them to integrate into the game.”
“Thirdly, I would establish a robust league system for top-tier players. This could be a separate league for the top 500 or top 1000 ranked players, offering unique, exclusive in-game rewards that are otherwise unobtainable.”
During the interview, Dendi also discussed assembling a dream team composed of his former teammates.
