Former professional Counter-Strike player Dmitry “Dima” Bandurka recently shared his perspective on CS2 and Valve`s handling of the game. Bandurka also commented on the cancellation of the Classic Offensive mod. The content creator expressed his thoughts in an exclusive interview during BetBoom LanDaLan #2.
Now you are a content creator, not a professional player. What has changed in your life?
Pretty much everything is the same, actually. It`s just that my days are calmer, less stressful, that`s all. I stream a lot, play FACEIT, and other games. I`m just freer and independent now.
Is there a chance of a comeback to the pro scene?
No, no, I`m done. I`ve played enough (laughs).
Is the mouse hung up permanently and irrevocably?
Yes, yes. I only play FACEIT now. I`m a Premier player.
How do you feel about the direction Counter-Strike is moving in, regarding the game`s development?
Nothing has really changed, essentially. Valve still does nothing, there`s no optimization, it`s all garbage. But I`m happy that our region is still thriving and developing. And all in that spirit.
Have you heard about the Classic Offensive mod?
Yes, they blocked it. Well, it`s like that, more for the old-timers. But as for it being blocked – did anyone expect anything else? No (laughs).
Many in the community criticized this decision, especially since Valve`s policy usually gives a green light to various mods.
They are businessmen. Yes-yes, no-no. Nothing surprises me anymore.
Counter-Strike 2 was released on the night of September 28th. The game became available to all users for free and completely replaced CS:GO. The same happened with inventories and other tabs related to the previous version of the shooter. It is no longer possible to access the CS:GO client, unlike how it was possible with CS2 before.
