Team Spirit`s CS2 player, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, explained why he doesn`t consider the team`s lack of bootcamps a problem. He stated that training online allows the team to dedicate more time to work and prevents them from getting fatigued too quickly.
First and foremost, I think the community shouldn`t concern themselves with this [Spirit not having bootcamps]. Experts and talking heads can think whatever they want, but we don`t care about it.
Every team has its own approach. Some are better off with a bootcamp because it helps them focus. But we train from home online much more effectively than it would be at bootcamps.
When everyone is in one room, it gets noisy, and energy just drains very quickly. During online training, this isn`t an issue, and you play more maps, work more as a team.
How can it be a problem when we`ve already won a Major without a bootcamp? The same applies to all our trophies. It has never been a problem and continues not to be.
I don`t believe a lineup that has played together for as long as we have needs a bootcamp. We don`t need to build team synergy from scratch or get used to each other; we spend a lot of time together anyway and talk extensively about CS.
Imagine if we travel for tournaments for a month, spending ten hours a day in the same room, and then after that, we also conduct a bootcamp. That`s very demanding emotionally, mentally, and I don`t think it`s something we need. If we ever feel it`s necessary, we will arrange it. But that`s not the current situation.
Spirit is set to start their run at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 on June 12. The championship technically begins on June 3, but donk`s squad received a direct invitation to the third stage, bypassing the initial two. The tournament boasts a prize pool of $1.25 million.
