Eidos Montreal Aims to Develop New Deus Ex

Eidos Montreal studio is reportedly seeking an investor to fund the creation of a new installment in the Deus Ex series.

The information about Eidos Montreal`s intentions to develop a new Deus Ex game surfaced following recent layoffs within the company. According to reports, the studio has been pitching the project to various publishers and external studios for some time. Rejections in some cases were attributed to publishers` belief that the Deus Ex franchise is too niche. Despite this, the proposed concept is said to be “innovative” but significantly deviates from previous titles in the series.

The original Deus Ex, a first-person shooter with stealth elements, was released in 2004. Since then, the franchise has expanded to include six games and a virtual reality adaptation. The most recent title, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was launched in 2017.
