Epic Games Head Acknowledges Store’s Convenience Gap Compared to Steam

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, has stated that their Epic Games Store launcher is less convenient and functional when compared to Steam. He noted that players often describe the store as “clunky,” acknowledging that this assessment is accurate. Sweeney added that insufficient focus had been placed on enhancing the customer interaction quality, leading to frustration among both users and the Epic Games team itself.

Sweeney emphasized that Epic Games does not intend to simply copy Steam entirely. However, the company plans to integrate user-friendly features aimed at making the platform`s usage as straightforward and enjoyable as its competitor`s. According to him, Epic Games will not be adding features like forums, which are present on Steam, but will concentrate efforts on other aspects of convenience.

Previously, the Epic Games Store had faced criticism for the absence of several features available on Steam, including integrated forums and more advanced recommendation systems. Despite these points of criticism, the company continues its efforts to grow the store, leveraging platform exclusives and expanding its feature set.
