Escape from Tarkov Developers Announce Hardcore Wipe – Last Before Release

Battlestate Games studio is planning a significant hardcore wipe ahead of the full release of Escape from Tarkov. The developers shared some details about upcoming patches through an updated roadmap.

The hardcore wipe is scheduled for patch 0.16.8, which is expected to arrive in July. While specific details remain unknown, fans of EFT speculate that this wipe will involve restricted access to the Flea Market, requiring players to acquire necessary items solely through traders. In addition, version 0.16.8 will introduce new PMC customization options, additional prestige levels, and various bug fixes.

For August, Escape from Tarkov developers have planned update 0.16.9. With this update, the studio aims to improve game balance, implement changes based on player feedback, enhance optimization for the Shoreline, Streets of Tarkov, and Interchange maps, add synchronization for PvE accounts and Escape from Tarkov: Arena, and further expand PMC customization. An in-game event is also planned for August, and it`s likely that the in-game season will transition to autumn by the end of the month.

Escape from Tarkov initially entered beta testing in 2017. The upcoming July wipe could potentially be the final one before the shooter`s official version 1.0 launch. Battlestate Games is targeting a release of version 1.0 by the end of 2025, with patch 0.16.9 serving as the last major update before the final release. Upon the game`s full launch, new quests and story cutscenes will be added – viewing these in the PvE mode will necessitate an account wipe. The studio confirmed it will continue supporting the game post-release, including future DLC.
