“Exhuming a Beloved Dog”: Hannah Waddingham’s Vibrant Reaction to Ted Lasso Season 4 Return

Great news for AFC Richmond faithful! Despite whispers that season three might be the finale whistle, Apple TV+`s beloved comedy “Ted Lasso” is officially returning for a fourth season. Among those expressing unique enthusiasm is Emmy-winning actress Hannah Waddingham, known for her brilliant portrayal of team owner Rebecca Welton.

The third season wrapped up, leaving many fans wondering if Ted`s journey had concluded. While creators remained somewhat enigmatic, persistent rumors about a continuation circulated widely. The official confirmation arrived in March 2024, much to the delight of the show`s dedicated fanbase and, it seems, its cast.

Waddingham recently shared her vibrant perspective on the show`s revival in an interview with Variety. Her chosen analogy is, shall we say, unconventional but certainly memorable. She described the feeling of returning to the world of “Ted Lasso” after season three as being:

“It feels like we buried the most beautiful, most beloved dog, and now we are exhuming him.”

This seemingly morbid comparison underscores her deep personal connection to her character. Waddingham emphasized her intense desire to see where Rebecca`s story goes next. “I wanted so, so, so much to know where Rebecca went, where she is heading,” she stated, adding, “She is my girl. She is in my blood.”

The actress conveyed her immense excitement about stepping back into Rebecca`s shoes. “I am thrilled that she has been `dug up`,” Waddingham exclaimed. Her anticipation extends even to the smaller details of portraying the character: “I can`t wait to get into it, contribute my part, and go shopping for her outfits.”

Waddingham`s passionate reaction highlights the cast`s own investment in the series and their characters. As production details emerge, her distinctive perspective offers an early, intriguing glimpse into the palpable excitement surrounding the return of “Ted Lasso” and the continuing saga of AFC Richmond.
