Shuhei Yoshida, the former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has stated his belief that increasing video game prices to $70-$80 is a justifiable action.
If you look at life in general, many goods have increased in price much more significantly than games. Therefore, I think the game industry was almost late in reviewing its pricing policy. As for the $70-$80 price point for truly high-quality games, I believe it still offers excellent value, considering the amount of entertainment they provide compared to alternatives. As long as people are thoughtful about their spending, I don`t see a reason to complain.
Yoshida also previously commented on supporting the release of PlayStation exclusives on other platforms, including PC. He reasoned that this strategy allows for greater revenue generation with a relatively low increase in required resources.
