Gamer Transforms Real Honda CR-V for Need for Speed and Other Racing Games

An enthusiast known by the handle mryeester has successfully converted his personal 2012 Honda CR-V automobile into a unique, real-car setup for playing racing video games. He showcased the result of his innovative project in a video shared on the YouTube platform.

To enable the connection between the actual car and his computer, mryeester ingeniously utilized the vehicle`s standard OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port. This port, a common feature in most vehicles manufactured over the past three decades and primarily used for diagnostic purposes, allowed him to access and read crucial data points from the car`s systems. Specifically, he was able to capture real-time inputs such as accelerator and brake pedal pressure, as well as the precise steering wheel angle. Following the data acquisition, he developed a custom script. This script`s function is to interpret and translate the real-world automotive signals into the corresponding digital inputs required by PC games, effectively simulating control inputs like keyboard presses or controller movements.

In related news from the gaming industry, it was previously reported that the publisher Electronic Arts has decided to temporarily suspend active development on the popular Need for Speed racing game franchise. This pause was reportedly implemented to allow the company to shift focus and resources towards the development and release of its military first-person shooter series, Battlefield. However, representatives from Electronic Arts have provided assurance that new installments in the Need for Speed series are indeed planned for future release, although they did not specify an exact timeline for when fans can expect these new titles.
