A 25-year-old TikTok streamer and reggae star from Jamaica, known as Baba Skeng, was reportedly the victim of a fatal shooting during a live broadcast.
Baba Skeng was on the street, interacting with a friend via an online chat. During the stream, a man wearing a hood and with his face concealed approached him from behind. The assailant shot the musician in the head at close range, then continued firing into the streamer after he had fallen to the ground, before leaving the scene. Several days have passed since the killing, but police have not yet located the perpetrator.
This incident is not the first live-streamed killing of a Jamaican streamer. In 2024 alone, there have been three such cases, two of which occurred within a 14-day period. In all these instances, the killers escaped and have not been apprehended by the police. Similar events have also happened in other countries. For example, in March, an unknown assailant stabbed a Japanese streamer during her live broadcast walk in Tokyo.
