JerAx Discusses Working with PARIVISION Players

Two-time The International champion Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka recently shared his perspective on coaching the PARIVISION Dota 2 team during BLAST Slam III. Speaking with Jan “Gorgc” Stefanovski, JerAx mentioned that he found the team to be more reserved than he generally anticipated from players in the CIS region. He specifically highlighted the use of English as a positive factor, believing it helps mitigate toxicity in communication.

[Gorgc: `Do you like the PARIVISION team and its players?`]
Yes, of course. I was very surprised, in a good way. Because I didn`t know this team, I only watched their games. But the more I get to know them, the more I think they seem calmer for players from CIS. I think, culturally, they are usually in such a position… They love trash talk. But I think [PARIVISION] actually keep it in themselves, they are quite reserved.

[Gorgc: `Do they speak English?`]
Yes, we speak English. They say it`s much better for them. The problem with the Russian language, probably, is that it`s easy to be negative, and they use many words when they say something in Russian. But when they speak English, everything is simple and more neutral. … I think, the Russian language in video games somehow has a tendency to become toxic. That`s what I understand.

JerAx`s coaching role with PARIVISION at BLAST Slam III was temporary, as he was filling in for their primary coach, Filipe “Astini” Astini.
