Korean YouTuber Deleting His 2 Million Subscriber Channel on YouTube After Losing MMA Fight to Comedian

Korean content creator Banzz is set to delete his YouTube channel, which currently boasts 2 million subscribers, following a loss in a bet with comedian Yoon Hyung Bin. Banzz announced in a video that he intends to fulfill his promise on July 7th.

The channel deletion stems from Banzz`s defeat against Yoon Hyung Bin in an MMA match held at the Goobne Road FC 073 event. The bout concluded in under two minutes via technical knockout. In a post-fight interview inside the octagon, the comedian expressed feelings of guilt, stating his belief that deleting Banzz`s channel was an excessive consequence.

Despite this, Banzz affirmed his commitment to honoring the pre-fight agreement. He has cultivated his channel for 12 years but has already made all previous videos private, leaving only his recent video addressing subscribers after the loss. Banzz shared his intention to launch a new channel and continue his content creation career, acknowledging that he will have to rebuild from the ground up.

Banzz is widely recognized as a leading Korean mukbang creator, a genre where creators consume large quantities of food on camera. At its peak, his YouTube channel surpassed 3 million subscribers. However, he experienced a significant decline in viewership after a 2019 controversy. Banzz was accused of using misleading advertising to promote his healthy food brand. While the prosecutor initially sought a six-month prison sentence, the court issued a considerably lighter penalty: a fine of 5 million Korean Won, equivalent to approximately $4,100 USD at the time.
