Lil: My Career Essentially Ended in 2018

Dota 2 esports player Ilya Ilyuk, known as Lil, has shared his reflections on his career in the game. He mentioned that he no longer sees the point in playing many matchmaking games daily. Ilyuk shared these thoughts on Telegram.

I have clearly defined for myself that playing 10 matchmaking games every day, as I`ve been doing for the past year, makes absolutely no sense. So I will try to change my mindset and play for enjoyment, only as much as appropriate, plus create content for streams. I am tired. Tired of setting high goals for myself and getting upset every time my “house of cards” falls down in matchmaking (often not due to my fault) and pushes me further away from achieving these goals. I am also tired of deceiving myself regarding Dota. Essentially, my career ended back in 2018, so if nothing comes of my new approach, it won`t be a big loss, neither for you nor for me.

Lil has been competing on the professional Dota 2 scene since 2014. In February 2018, the esports player left Virtus.pro and moved to Natus Vincere – he left that club in September. Subsequently, Ilyuk represented several teams, but he did not manage to achieve high placements at tier-1 tournaments.
