Maelstorm Discusses Controversial Doom Buyback Bug

Dota 2 caster Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov shared his reaction to the controversial buyback bug involving Aurora Gaming`s carry, Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko, during their match against PARIVISION. The incident occurred on the third map of the upper bracket semifinal at PGL Wallachia Season 4. Maelstorm posted his thoughts on his Telegram channel.

Back at the first International, Gem of True Sight didn`t reveal wards. There were no remakes. Was it unfair? A bit. But what can be done? Replaying in a situation like this? I don`t think that`s any fairer. A save/load? Maybe.

The bug occurred during the third map when Aurora Gaming`s carry found himself unable to buy back despite possessing sufficient gold. The issue is reportedly linked to the Doom aspect “Devil`s Bargain,” which increases the hero`s buyback cost by 20%.

The incident drew reactions from many figures in the professional scene. Team Spirit analyst Mark “sikle” Lerman, for instance, pointed out that the player would only become able to buy back 25 seconds after the game`s pause concluded.
