Nintendo has announced Mario Kart World, marking their first foray into pricing standard edition digital games above $70. This latest addition to the beloved racing franchise is set to debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
The game`s unveiling took place during a Nintendo Direct presentation focused on the new console. Price details for Mario Kart World were subsequently confirmed on Nintendo`s official platforms, revealing a recommended retail price of $79.99 for the digital version and $89.99 for the physical edition.
Historically, Nintendo has kept the price of standard editions of their games at or below $70. The first title to break this barrier was The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, launched in May 2023. Donkey Kong Bananza, announced at a recent Direct event, will also share this higher price point.
Mario Kart World is slated for release on June 5th, coinciding with the launch of Nintendo Switch 2. The console itself is expected to retail at $450.
