Maximum Twitch Stream Quality Reduced to 720p in Russia

Twitch users in Russia are reporting a decrease in the maximum available quality options for viewing streams. Viewers state they have lost the ability to select the source resolution originally transmitted by content creators.

While streamers in Russia commonly broadcast in 1080p resolution, the highest quality now accessible to most viewers on many live streams is 720p. This change appears to be a regional limitation.

It is noted that accessing 1080p quality becomes possible when using a VPN. Additionally, this resolution seems to remain available for streams where the original source resolution is set at a higher mark, such as 1440p. The exact reason behind this restriction is currently unknown, and representatives from Twitch have not yet provided a comment on the situation.
