Microsoft Eliminates Workaround for Offline Windows 11 Installation

It is no longer possible to complete the Windows 11 installation process without an internet connection and a Microsoft account through simple methods. Developers announced this update on their official website.

Specifically, these changes apply to the latest OS builds 26200.5516 and 26120.3653. Previously, users discovered a loophole that allowed them to use a hidden script called `bypassnro` to bypass this requirement. This function was activated via the command line. Now, activating the script requires using the registry, and even this method might be removed by developers in the future.

In Windows 11 versions below Pro, it was never intended to allow installation completion without internet access and a Microsoft account login. However, users consistently found bugs to circumvent this restriction. For example, one method involved entering invalid data, which would then prompt an error message and offer the creation of a local account. With Pro and higher versions, bypassing the restriction was easier by indicating during setup that the OS would be used for work or school and then selecting the option that the computer is in a network domain.
