Actor Mikhail Efremov, who was convicted in 2020 for a fatal car accident, will be released from prison. The Alekseevsky District Court has approved the actor`s parole.
Efremov`s initial sentence was eight years in a penal colony, but this was reduced to seven and a half years because he compensated the victim`s family for moral damages. During the hearing, the prosecutor agreed that Efremov had atoned for his guilt and could be released. Efremov himself has stated his intention to quit drinking and is determined to reform.
The accident involving Efremov occurred on June 8, 2020. The actor made a U-turn across a double solid line on Smolenskaya Square and collided with a van traveling in the opposite direction. According to eyewitnesses, Efremov was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
