Paramount Pictures has officially unveiled the first poster for the forthcoming comedy film “The Naked Gun.” The promotional image was shared across the studio`s social media channels.
The new “The Naked Gun” is being positioned as both a remake of and a sequel to the beloved original series. Liam Neeson, known for roles in films such as “Schindler`s List” and “The A-Team,” is set to star in the lead role. He will portray Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the iconic character previously played by Leslie Nielsen. The movie is currently scheduled for release on August 1, 2025.
The original “The Naked Gun,” which evolved from the cult TV series “Police Squad!,” first hit theaters in 1988. That film was a successful slapstick comedy renowned for its dense parody of police dramas and various cinematic tropes. It famously starred Leslie Nielsen (“Airplane!”, “Wrongfully Accused”) as Lieutenant Frank Drebin. The initial movie was followed by two sequels.
