Natus Vincere, a prominent name in the competitive Dota 2 scene, concluded their run at the Riyadh Masters 2025 tournament sooner than their supporters had hoped. The team was eliminated from the event following a decisive 0-2 defeat at the hands of Team Falcons in the second round of the Elimination Phase.
Following the match, NAVI`s carry player, Artem `Niku` Bachkur, offered a straightforward and unvarnished assessment of the team`s performance and the challenging series against Falcons. Speaking during a tournament broadcast interview, Niku did not shy away from admitting the difficulties faced by his squad.
“Everything went very poorly for us,” Niku stated, reflecting on the match dynamics. He candidly admitted the significant gap in performance, noting, “We practically had no chance to win.” According to the carry player, the issues were fundamental, stemming from the preparatory stage and in-game execution. “Bad drafts, bad execution,” he summarized as the core reasons for their loss.
Niku also offered insight into what separates the top-tier teams, like Team Falcons, from others. He suggested that consistent dedication and experience are key factors. “I think the strongest teams give their all, even when playing against weaker teams,” Niku observed. “They always prepare well and perform excellently in the match itself. They simply have more experience, which is why they are stronger.” It appears the perceived strength difference translated directly into the match outcome.
With their Riyadh Masters 2025 participation concluded, Natus Vincere is now setting its sights on the next major challenge: The International 2025. Niku confirmed the team`s commitment to performing well at Dota 2`s premier championship. “Obviously, we want to play in major tournaments,” he said, highlighting the importance of TI25. “The International 2025 is ahead of us, and we will try our best to reach the playoffs.”
Adding a touch of competitive spirit and perhaps a hint of irony after the recent defeat, Niku was asked about the prospect of a rematch against Team Falcons at The International. His response was delivered with a lighthearted jab: “Yes, of course, with a 2-0 score (laughs).” A confident, if currently aspirational, declaration of intent for future encounters.
Ultimately, the 0-2 loss to Team Falcons ended NAVI`s run at Riyadh Masters 2025, placing the team in the 9th-12th position. This finish earned Natus Vincere a prize of $75,000.
