Nintendo is actively working on expanding its audience by planning the release of new films based on their game series. This information was confirmed by the company head, Shuntaro Furukawa.
Furukawa specifically highlighted that Nintendo`s goal is to attract as many people as possible to their game franchises, leveraging the success of animated films like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” its upcoming sequel, and the announced film based on The Legend of Zelda. Although the company head did not specify the names of the new projects, he confirmed that Nintendo is simultaneously developing several films in this area.
“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was released on April 6, 2023. The sequel`s premiere is set for April 24, 2026, and the film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027.
