The global launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 console occurred on June 5th. Following the hybrid design of its 2017 predecessor, the new device functions seamlessly in both portable mode and when connected to a TV via its dock. Technologically, the Switch 2 marks a significant advancement over the original version.
Key technical specifications include a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD display featuring HDR10 support and a refresh rate up to 120Hz. Powering the console is an 8-core ARM Cortex A78C processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A notable enhancement is the addition of a computer mouse mode function to the Switch 2 controllers, broadening their utility.
Alongside the console`s release, the initial software lineup was unveiled. Nintendo`s flagship launch title is the racing game Mario Kart World. The platform also welcomes a variety of games from third-party developers, such as Cyberpunk 2777 Ultimate Edition, Yakuza 0 Director`s Cut, Civilization VII, Street Fighter 6, and Split Fiction.
Numerous games from the previous generation have received technical updates. Some titles, notably the latest entries in The Legend of Zelda series, provide optional paid upgrades. Furthermore, performance-enhancing free patches are available for eleven specific games, including popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
For the Russian market, sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 are planned to commence on June 10th. Retailers will offer a bundle featuring Mario Kart World, with pricing expected to start from ₽65,000.
