Actor Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in “The Last of Us” and “Game of Thrones,” has reportedly expressed support for LGBTQ+ activists advocating for a boycott of the “Harry Potter” franchise and its author, J.K. Rowling.
The renewed calls for a boycott followed Rowling`s social media post in April, where she appeared to celebrate a UK Supreme Court ruling that recognized only biological women as women. In response, activists launched another campaign demanding a boycott of the author`s work. One activist reportedly stated, “Our mission is to make everything associated with `Harry Potter` fail.” Pedro Pascal reportedly endorsed this sentiment on social media, expressing solidarity with the transgender community and allegedly referring to Rowling`s actions as “horrible and disgusting shit” and “pathetic behavior from a loser.”
Previously, actor David Tennant (“Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” “Doctor Who”) also offered criticism of Rowling. While praising her as a “wonderful author” with “amazing stories,” he expressed hope that she would “get out of the way of people,” referencing her comments regarding women`s rights and transgender individuals.
