According to several insider reports, Rockstar Games is reportedly working on a port of Red Dead Redemption 2 for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Furthermore, the release could potentially occur as early as this year, coinciding with an update for PC and current-generation consoles.
While Rockstar`s primary focus is currently on Grand Theft Auto VI, which is slated for a 2026 release, it appears the developers are not exclusively dedicated to the sequel. Previously, reports emerged online about a potential port of GTA IV, similar to how the company released the original Red Dead Redemption on newer platforms last year.
Rumors surrounding the Red Dead Redemption 2 port have circulated among publications and corroborated by various sources. Based on this information, the project is already in active development and is targeting a release within the current fiscal year, which concludes on March 31, 2026. Given the anticipated release timeline for GTA VI, a 2025 release for RDR2 seems increasingly probable.
