Reference to Mysterious Valve Project ‘Tf’ Found in Deadlock Update Code

Following the release of a new patch for the shooter Deadlock, data miners have drawn attention to suspicious lines within the game`s files. They discovered a mention of a project bearing the code name Tf. Previously, similar references to other Valve games were uncovered in the Source 2 engine this way – for example, “citadel” was identified as Deadlock, while the enigmatic “HLX” is speculated to be a new installment in the Half-Life series.

Insider and data miner Tyler McVicker suggests that Tf signifies a new project underway at the studio. The Source 2 engine operates without unique builds tailored for each specific game. Consequently, hints related to Valve`s other internal developments can often be found embedded within the files of titles like Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and others.

McVicker posits this might be a clue pointing towards a new game in the Team Fortress franchise. Theories circulating online also propose that the project could be a VR game under development, potentially for Valve`s next generation of headsets. However, there is currently no official information available to confirm these speculations.

In the past, McVicker himself has commented on the possibility of Chell, the protagonist from Portal, appearing in Half-Life 3. Therefore, it`s also conceivable that Tf could represent a potential continuation of the Portal series, but until official details emerge, these remain purely speculative.
