Actor David Dastmalchian, known for his roles in films like “Late Night with the Devil” and “The Dark Knight”, is reportedly set to portray the iconic villain M. Bison in the forthcoming film adaptation of the popular fighting game series, Street Fighter. While this casting news has circulated via insider reports, an official confirmation is still awaited.
A new movie based on the Street Fighter franchise was first announced in 2023, a joint venture between Legendary Pictures and game publisher Capcom. As of now, comprehensive official details regarding the complete cast and the specifics of the film`s storyline have not been released. The project was initially anticipated for a spring 2026 premiere but has since been pushed back to an unspecified future date.
Originally, the director`s chair for the film was intended for brothers Michael and Danny Philippou, acclaimed for their work on “Talk to Me”. However, in June 2024, they departed the production due to scheduling conflicts, choosing instead to concentrate on their film “Bring Her Back” in collaboration with A24. With Legendary and Capcom keen to commence filming promptly, Kitao Sakurai, known for directing episodes of “Twisted Metal” and “The Eric Andre Show”, took over as director in February 2025.
