Veteran American actor Robert De Niro, aged 81, was presented with an honorary Golden Palm (Palme d`Or) at the Cannes Film Festival. This prestigious award is bestowed upon distinguished industry figures in recognition of their overall career achievements in film history.
During his acceptance speech, De Niro took the opportunity to criticize US President Donald Trump. His remarks were made amidst news reports regarding potential impending 100% tariffs on films produced outside the United States. The actor stated, “You cannot put a price on creativity, but apparently, you can introduce a tariff on it. This is unacceptable.”
De Niro began his acting career in the 1960s and has since starred in more than a hundred films and television series. He has received numerous accolades throughout his distinguished career, notably winning the Academy Award twice for his roles in “Raging Bull” and “The Godfather Part II”.
