Reports have surfaced online from PlayStation console owners concerning blocks on accounts from other countries. This information was shared by representatives of the PSprices service and its social media subscribers.
Some media outlets have labeled this wave of blocks as widespread; however, currently only isolated incidents are known. According to user reports, Sony began blocking accounts in early May. There has been no official information from the company regarding this issue. Primarily, the banned accounts were new ones created in the Turkish and Ukrainian regions. Several individuals with older accounts also commented on the PSprices post, noting similar problems. A common factor among them was that they did not register these accounts themselves but purchased them online.
Information about blocks on Turkish PSN accounts belonging to Russian users had already emerged in 2023. The affected users were also those who had purchased pre-made accounts instead of registering them personally. Such accounts were often created in bulk by sellers using their own email domains, which likely triggered suspicion from Sony.
