Vitaliy “Save-” Melnik, the support player for BetBoom Team`s Dota 2 roster, shared his thoughts after their win at PGL Wallachia Season 5. He commented that this victory finally broke a “curse” that had seemed to follow the team at previous tournaments held in Romania. Save- made these remarks during a post-match interview conducted live on stage after the grand final.
We finally broke the curse of this tournament. Last time, we were knocked out by Team Tidebound. NothingToSay had previously eliminated us from both PGL Wallachia events we participated in, playing for G2.iG and Team Tidebound. Furthermore, we managed to defeat Team Spirit in Romania this time; we had lost to them here in the first season and also at TI10. Then, we took down Liquid in the lower bracket.
I`m really proud of my team for winning from the lower bracket. Normally, we tend to stumble on the third map in those situations. But this time was different – we succeeded.
PGL Wallachia Season 5 was held in Bucharest, Romania, from June 21st to 29th. The tournament featured 16 participating teams competing for a substantial $1 million prize pool. BetBoom Team claimed the championship title by defeating Gaimin Gladiators with a final score of 3-1 in the grand final match.
