The team behind the “Solo Leveling” anime adaptation has offered insights into the potential production of a third season. They shared details about the realities of bringing the popular series to the screen during a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session hosted on Reddit.
Atsushi Kaneko, animation producer at A-1 Pictures, and Sota Furuhashi, producer at Aniplex, conveyed that they will require “the help and energy of the fans” to make a third season possible. They drew a comparison to gathering a Spirit Bomb from Dragon Ball Z, underscoring the significant amount of resources and effort dedicated to producing “Solo Leveling.”
Adding to the discussion, Raul Purini, the head of the Crunchyroll streaming service, commented on the prospects of a third season in a statement to Deadline. He pointed out the current saturation of the anime market and A-1 Pictures` ambition to work on multiple projects simultaneously. This context is important, as Kaneko had previously disclosed that creating a single episode of “Solo Leveling” can take a substantial 10 to 12 months. Therefore, finding a slot in the studio`s schedule to commence work on the third season presents a challenge.
The “Solo Leveling” anime is based on the highly-rated manhwa of the same name. Its plot centers around the weakest hunter in the world who, after a near-fatal dungeon expedition, mysteriously gains the extraordinary ability to increase his power level. To date, two seasons of the animated series have been released. The show has been well-received by audiences, currently holding a rating of 8.6 out of 10 on IMDb and 8.4 out of 10 on Kinopoisk.
