Sony Halts 8K Television Production Due to Weak Demand

Sony has officially announced the cessation of its 8K television production. Company representatives confirmed the decision, citing low consumer interest in these high-resolution devices.

The last 8K models from Sony were the Bravia XR Z9K series, available in 75 and 85-inch sizes, released in 2022. Production of these models will be discontinued, and Sony currently has no plans to introduce new 8K televisions. While a future return to 8K production is not ruled out, it is not economically viable for Sony at this time.

Regarding competitors in the 8K market, Samsung is expected to unveil new models in 2025, potentially including three devices. LG, on the other hand, has not developed new 8K TVs since 2023. Current LG 8K models remain available for purchase, and the company has not announced any plans to discontinue their production.
