MGM+ has announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated series adaptation of Stephen King`s chilling novel, “The Institute.” The show is scheduled to launch on the streaming platform on July 13, 2023.
“The Institute” follows the story of Luke Ellis, a young boy who possesses extraordinary abilities. After being kidnapped, he wakes up in a mysterious and unsettling facility known only as The Institute. Here, he discovers that he and other children with special talents are being held against their will and subjected to strange scientific experiments. Meanwhile, a retired police officer named Tim Jamieson arrives in the area and becomes entangled in investigating the disappearances and the secretive nature of the institution.
The series is directed by Jack Bender, known for his work on acclaimed shows like “Lost” and “The Sopranos.” David E. Kelley, the award-winning writer behind series such as “Big Little Lies” and “Goliath,” penned the script for this adaptation. The narrative will unfold over a limited series run consisting of eight episodes.
