Super Mario Strikers Launches on Nintendo Switch 2

By Marco Wutz

Super Mario Strikers, originally released in 2005 and the last Mario title for the GameCube console, is now among the initial games made available on the new Nintendo Switch 2 platform. This beloved soccer game classic is accessible to members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service starting July 3rd at no additional charge.

Presently, this re-released version is not offered for standalone purchase. Consequently, those keen on experiencing the game again must utilize the subscription service, which grants access to a wide library of vintage titles from Nintendo`s previous console generations.

Consistent with other sports titles in the Mario series, Strikers takes significant liberties with the standard rules of soccer. Tackling, for instance, is depicted with a physicality more akin to American football or ice hockey. The game also incorporates powerful, unique power-up shots that are highly likely to result in a goal when successfully executed. Furthermore, signature Super Mario items like Koopa Shells and Mushrooms make appearances, introducing the same kind of unpredictable mayhem familiar from games such as Mario Kart.
