Developer 11 bit studios has officially launched their new game, The Alters. The game is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and is also included with Game Pass subscriptions.
The main protagonist is Jan Dolski, a simple worker who finds himself stranded after a critical accident on a peculiar, unknown planet. To navigate this perilous situation and increase his chances of survival, Jan must create alternate versions of himself using a special mineral and a quantum computer.
Each of these “Alters” is unique, possessing distinct professional backgrounds, skill sets, and personalities. Interacting with these different versions of himself and managing their needs and abilities is a core gameplay mechanic crucial for overcoming challenges and progressing through the story.
Players will also focus on expanding and managing a mobile base, adding vital modules such as laboratories, greenhouses, and other necessary facilities. The mysterious planet is comprised of various diverse biomes, offering opportunities to explore and gather essential resources needed for base construction and equipment crafting. However, venturing outside the base requires careful consideration of Jan`s physical and psychological state, as well as vigilance against hazardous anomalous phenomena.
The narrative features a non-linear structure, where the decisions made by the player significantly influence the unfolding events. Looking to the future, the developers have announced plans to add mod support and release a substantial DLC expansion scheduled for 2026.
