The Outer Worlds 2 Becomes Microsoft’s First $80 Title

Obsidian Entertainment`s highly anticipated sequel, The Outer Worlds 2, is set to be the inaugural Microsoft game priced at the new $80 tier. This updated pricing was initially observed on the RPG`s store page and subsequently verified by the publisher. Earlier this year, Microsoft had communicated intentions to increase prices for their games and hardware, citing prevailing market conditions and the escalating costs associated with game development. This new pricing structure is scheduled to take effect from late 2025 onwards.

This follow-up to the 2019 science fiction RPG introduces players to a new agent of the Earth Directorate arriving at the Arcadia colony. The narrative unfolds as the agent must investigate destructive cosmic rifts that pose a threat to humanity`s survival. Developers have indicated that the game will feature a fresh cast of crew members, new weaponry, and unique adversaries, alongside expanded opportunities for exploration within this new segment of the universe.

The release of The Outer Worlds 2 is planned for October 29, 2025. The game will be available on Xbox Series consoles and PC. Notably, it will also be included with Game Pass from day one. As of now, Russian localization has not been announced for the title.
