Analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields expressed his surprise at the reaction of T1 fans to the situation involving Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong`s temporary departure and subsequent return to the League of Legends team. He mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that even the best team in the world should be able to make roster changes if needed.
Thorin summarized the logic of some T1 fans as believing that because the team won the World Championship, no player should ever be benched or replaced. He called this line of thinking “just idiotic.”
Earlier in 2025, Gumayusi was moved to the inactive roster by the coaches. Smash was chosen to play instead at the LCK Cup 2025. The team finished 5th-6th and missed out on the First Stand 2025 international tournament. Three days ago, T1 management announced Gumayusi`s return to the main roster. T1`s next official match is scheduled for April 4th against DRX as part of the LCK Rounds 1-2 2025.
