Danil “GpK~” Skutin, a midlaner for BetBoom Team, shared advice for Dota 2 players looking to improve their mid lane skills. In a vlog on his team`s YouTube channel, he explained his own journey to climb the MMR ladder.
GpK~ emphasized the importance of focusing on individual skill and mechanics. He mentioned that watching pro replays is no longer necessary, and instead, players should concentrate on mastering micro-skills and precise button presses. He believes that by honing these fundamental aspects, overall improvement will naturally follow.
Understanding the current meta is also crucial, according to GpK~. He advised against unconventional strategies that might hinder team play. Reflecting on his own past, he humorously admitted to being toxic in the past, even receiving multiple account bans.
For players aiming to increase their MMR, GpK~ suggests specializing in a role and developing a hero pool of about 15-20 heroes. He shared his own experience of rapidly climbing MMR by playing carry and mid roles, occasionally venturing into the offlane. The key, he stated, is consistent practice and focused gameplay.
Regarding communication, GpK~ recommends keeping it concise and role-specific. He suggests core players should primarily communicate, focusing on their own hero`s needs and avoiding unnecessary instructions to other teammates.
Currently, BetBoom Team is competing at ESL One Raleigh 2025.
