According to recent reports, Amazon has commenced the search for a new actor to portray James Bond as they plan to relaunch the famous spy action movie series.
Amazon has reportedly compiled lists of potential candidates for the part. Key criteria for the role include being under 30 years old and primarily of British nationality, though an Australian actor is also noted among the current favorites. Leading contenders mentioned at this stage are 29-year-old Tom Holland, widely known for his portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; 28-year-old Jacob Elordi, recognized for his role in “Euphoria”; and 29-year-old Harris Dickinson, who appeared in films such as “Triangle of Sadness” and “The King`s Man.”
Reports indicated in February 2025 that Amazon had acquired the creative rights to the Bond franchise. Media outlets suggest the acquisition cost over a billion dollars, with a significant portion reportedly funded by Amazon head Jeff Bezos, allegedly motivated by past comments from former producers of the series.
The reboot is expected to be produced by Amy Pascal and David Heyman, whose previous collaborations include the “Harry Potter” series, the “Spider-Man” films starring Tom Holland, and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, known for directing “Dune” and “Blade Runner 2049,” is reportedly set to direct the upcoming Bond movie.
