US Authorities Again Lose Case Against Microsoft Activision Blizzard Deal

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has again failed in its attempt to challenge the legality of the transaction between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. Reports indicate the outcome of the court proceedings.

The US Court of Appeals affirmed the 2023 ruling that declared Microsoft`s acquisition of Activision Blizzard lawful. The FTC sought to overturn this decision but was unable to present sufficient compelling evidence that the transaction violates the country`s antitrust laws. The judges emphasized that Microsoft`s pledge to release ActiBlizz titles on cloud services alleviates concerns.

The $69 billion deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard was finalized in October 2023. Since then, the FTC has attempted to contest it twice, with both appeals being rejected or deemed unfounded.
