Valve and Perfect World Ban 12 Esports Players for ‘Integrity Violations’

Tournament organizer and game publisher Perfect World in China has announced a joint decision with Valve to ban 12 professional Dota 2 players. The bans were issued for violations of esports integrity. Some players received lifetime prohibitions from competitive play, while others were banned for a duration of two years. Information regarding these disciplinary actions was shared on social media platforms Weibo and X.

One of the sanctioned players, X1aOyU, had previously faced penalties from Valve. In 2023, Valve banned a total of 45 esports athletes from China and Southeast Asia. X1aOyU returned to the professional circuit after his previous ban expired.

In related news from the esports integrity space, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) recently banned the ATOX Esports CS2 roster. ESIC representatives stated they had obtained evidence suggesting the team had collaborated with `organized criminal syndicates from China`.
