Valve has updated the rulebook for CS2 Majors, officially detailing the number of invite slots assigned to each region for the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 tournament.
The structure of the Major features teams entering at different stages. Eight teams will begin their run directly from Stage 3: five teams from Europe, two from the Americas (combining North and South America), and one from Asia. An additional eight teams will receive invitations to start in Stage 2, following the exact same regional distribution. The remaining 16 slots are designated for the initial Stage 1, however, the precise regional breakdown for these spots has not yet been revealed. It is expected that Valve will likely move away from the previously used 6:6:2 formula for Europe, the Americas, and Asia concerning these earlier stage slots.
The StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 is scheduled to take place in Hungary from November 24th to December 14th. This major event will bring together 32 teams to compete for a significant prize pool of $1.25 million. A key change in the qualification process, announced by Valve in June, is the cancellation of regional RMR tournaments. Instead, teams will now secure their slots for the Major based on their performance in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). The complete list of teams participating in the tournament is anticipated to be confirmed on October 8th.
