Varesa is an upcoming five-star Electro catalyst user in Genshin Impact, expected to be released in the first half of patch 5.5. She will be one of the last characters from Natlan before character releases from other regions begin. This guide will cover how to build and level up Varesa, including her best weapons, artifacts, and team compositions.
Varesa is a strong warrior from Teteocan who enjoys fighting, growing vegetables, and delicious food. As a student of Iansan, Varesa, like everyone in her tribe, is a proponent of a healthy lifestyle. However, when her tribe is threatened, she transforms from a sweet-toothed girl into a powerful warrior.
Normal Attack “By the Horns”: Varesa performs up to three attacks using her catalyst, dealing Electro DMG to enemies. Her Charged Attack consumes Stamina to headbutt opponents, dealing “Night Spirit” characteristic damage and then jumping upwards. During her Plunging Attack, Varesa strikes the ground, dealing AoE Electro DMG with the “Night Spirit” characteristic. If Varesa is in combat or hits an opponent, she regenerates 25 points of “Night Spirit”. During her Elemental Skill, her Normal Attacks are enhanced and deal increased Electro DMG. Additionally, her Plunging Attack consumes all accumulated “Night Spirit” points.
Elemental Skill “Night Rainbow Ride”: Varesa dashes forward, dealing Electro DMG and gaining 20 points of “Night Spirit” and the “Follow-Up Strike” effect. With a quick press, she performs a repeat dash forward. With a long press, she enters “Sudden Onslaught” mode and a special “Night Spirit Blessing” state, granting the following buffs:
Elemental Burst “Dazzling Descent!”: Varesa leaps into the air and performs a powerful aerial strike with “Night Spirit” characteristic damage. After this strike, she immediately enters the “Blazing Inspiration” state. If Varesa is already in this state, her Burst deals increased damage. All Plunging Attacks activate the “Limit Impulse” effect: during this effect, her resistance to interruption is increased, and she ignores Burst cooldown and consumes less energy for it. The Burst itself changes to an enhanced version, during which she performs a strengthened Plunging Attack.
Passive Talent No. 1 “Gift of the Night`s Domain: Incinerating Evil Torch”: When Varesa expends all “Night Spirit” points, she depletes the Phlogiston bar. If she is in Natlan when a party member uses Sprint or Glides, switching to Varesa will cause her to enter the “Night Spirit Blessing” state, activate “Sudden Onslaught,” and gain 20 “Night Spirit” points.
When Varesa uses Natlan`s terrain for jumps, Plunging Attack DMG is decreased.
Passive Talent No. 2 “Triple Team Jump!”: During her Skill, Varesa gains “Rainbow Crash.” While this effect is active, the shockwave from her Plunging Attack deals damage equal to 60% of her ATK. The effect disappears after 5 seconds.
Passive Talent No. 3 “Hero`s Return!”: When a party member uses “Night Spirit Flash,” Varesa`s ATK is increased by 35% for 12 seconds.
Passive Talent No. 4 “Flaming Heart, One Way Forward!”: Varesa`s Sprint speed and Stamina consumption are increased out of combat.
Constellation “Unyielding Devotion”: Enhances Passive Skill No. 2 – the “Limit Impulse” effect grants “Rainbow Crash,” increases Plunging Attack shockwave damage, and reduces “Night Spirit” or Phlogiston consumption by 30%.
Constellation “Breaking the Daylight Line”: “Limit Impulse” is activated regardless of whether Varesa is in her Elemental Skill state. When active, interruption resistance is increased and 11 Energy is restored.
Constellation “Unwavering Determination”: Increases Elemental Burst Level by 3 (max level: 15).
Constellation “Courage to Move Forward”: After using her Burst, Varesa gains a 100% increase to Plunging Attack shockwave damage or Burst damage.
Constellation “Reflections on a Warm Breeze”: Increases Elemental Skill Level by 3 (max level: 15).
Constellation “Triumph of the Just Hero”: After activating “Limit Impulse,” Varesa restores 30 Energy, Plunging Attack and Burst CRIT Rate are increased by 10%, and CRIT DMG is increased by 100%. Skill activation restores maximum “Night Spirit” points.
Below is a detailed guide on how to ascend Varesa, including the materials she needs for leveling up and where to find them.
ядра безумной статуи ( ядра безумной статуи ) – ядра безумной статуи ( ядра безумной статуи ) – Core of the Mad Statue – a resource obtained from the daily boss Lava Dragon Statue. It can be found in Natlan with the release of patch 5.5.
Заоблачный камнелист – Cloudreach Stoneleaf – a Natlan local specialty. It can be found in the “Domain of Gracious Earth” tribe area.
Осколки, фрагменты, куски и драгоценные камни аметиста Ваджрада – Vajrada Amethyst Sliver, Fragments, Chunks, and Gemstones – materials dropped from daily bosses (such as Thunder Manifestation) and weekly bosses (Childe).
Молодой клык, клык взрослого, клык тирана – Fledgling Maw, Adult Maw, Tyrannical Maw – items dropped from any type of Saurian mobs.
Учения, указания и философия о «Раздоре» – Teachings of Accord, Guide to Accord, Philosophies of Accord – these books are obtained from the “Firelit Reliquary” domain.
Истлевшее чешуйчатое перо – Scorched Scaly Feather – a resource from the weekly boss Lord of the Scorching Sand.
“Gleaming Wishes” – Varesa`s signature weapon, suitable for all her roles. This five-star catalyst provides a significant increase to CRIT DMG, a crucial stat for her as a main DPS. Additionally, the weapon greatly increases ATK and Plunging Attack DMG, which Varesa relies on, and buffs CRIT DMG after activating her Elemental Skill or Burst. This catalyst is excellent for a classic Plunging Attack build for Varesa.
“Prayer to the Sacred Winds” – a standard catalyst with high ATK. This weapon not only provides a large ATK boost, but its passive effect also allows for an additional CRIT Rate increase when Varesa is on the field. Being easier to obtain than event weapons, it`s a great alternative to her signature weapon for those who couldn`t pull it.
“The Widsith” – this epic weapon is a great fit for the Natlan farmer. It provides a decent CRIT DMG increase and buffs both ATK and Elemental Mastery, as well as Elemental DMG. While the passive can be quite random for Varesa, all buffs will be very helpful for her. It is best to obtain five refinements for the book to maximize all buffs.
“Flowing Purity” – a budget-friendly replacement for the previous options, obtainable through crafting as it is part of the Fontaine weapon series. It increases ATK and Skill DMG, but applies the “Bond of Life” effect to Varesa. Due to its accessibility, this catalyst is great for beginners, although it is inferior to the previous options due to the debuffs it applies.
“Pledge of the Long Night” – Varesa`s signature artifact set for increasing Plunging Attack DMG, as well as Skill and Charged Attack DMG. This set is suitable for any of her builds as it directly increases the damage of the plunge attacks that Varesa utilizes.
“Obsidian Foliage” – an alternative artifact set for Varesa, focused on enhancing the “Night Spirit” mechanic and equally effective on her and most Natlan characters. The set increases damage in stance by 15% and increases CRIT Rate for each “Night Spirit” point consumed.
Iansan – a new epic rarity character will be in the same banner as Varesa, making it easy to pull both. The trainer from the Domain of Gracious Earth serves as a Bennett substitute, specifically for her tribesmate, providing an ATK buff and potentially applying additional Electro status to enemies.
Xianyun – this character is indispensable for all DPS characters who rely on Plunging Attacks, including Varesa. Cloud Retainer helps activate Plunging Attacks more frequently thanks to her Burst and also provides stable team healing.
Furina – a very useful and versatile support, also suitable for Varesa. Furina can function as an excellent sub-DPS, dealing damage comparable to Varesa, or as a decent healer, constantly switching between these two modes.
Ororon – a great support from Natlan who is an excellent Electro applicator on par with Fischl and similar characters. His advantage is that he doesn`t need to be on the field for long, freeing up time for Varesa`s rotation. Additionally, he performs well in reaction-based teams (especially with Dendro element).
